It’s been a while since I wrote anything here, have been busy with the new arrivals in the family anyway finally have some time to put up the Christmas Celebrations that we had for 2009.
During the last get together for the year before we break for Christmas and New Year there was a Christmas Party. There was food catered for and a gift exchange as well as games, carolling and even a Christmas skit.
Rosalind and Doris were in charged of the registration and collection of gifts for the gift exchange. We were asked the previous few weeks to bring a small gift for exchange something under $5. It was a pretty good turn out and everyone brought something for the exchange which was fabulous.

The food was pretty good as well but as I had arrived a little late it had already started, there was even some Roast but there was no oven to roast the ham and turkey. There was even a bottle of fizzy champagne to go along with it. Here’s John opening the fizzy drink … :)
Opening the cap, going going ….
going, going ….. and gone !!
some of the ladies enjoying the evening.
After the feasting there was a Carolling session done by our very own RCIA Singers. Wern’t they superb ! They belted out a melody of old favourites.
Games were the order of the day after the singing and we had everyone’s favourite CHARADES with a Christmas twist where all the phrases were from the bible.
Osmand with our MC, Clare and the team getting the answer right !
Jeremiah’s turn to act out the scene and I was not sure what Pauline was doing but it had to do with the 12 disciples.
Finally just before everyone left for the night with their gifts, we had the Christmas skit. Its the abridge version with Maggi and Spencer taking on the lead roles of Mary and Joseph. (the wardrobe department could easily win an Oscar)
As the story goes, one night in Bethlehem there was no place for Mary and Joseph to stay and Mary was with Child (there was use of Hollywood type special effects to make ‘Mary’ an expectant mom – aka a Pillow was used), they found a manager where the little boy Jesus was born. They even had an infant to play the part of baby Jesus. (and again special effects was used to age the baby from 6 hours old to 6 months old … or older)
And then we had the wise men bearing gifts, but due to the current economic recession we had to cut down from 3 to 1 wise man. Greg played the part to a T, probably will be nominated for the Golden Globe awards.
Cast in order of Appearance :-
Narrator – Clare
Joseph – Spencer
Mary – Maggi
Baby Jesus – Simon and Jennifer’s Grandson.
Wise Man – Greg
And with that we close of the year 2009, as we welcome 2010 and the final phase of RCIA.
